Stupendous Studio!
Kayla and I checked out Wildflower Studio in South Burlington on New Year’s Day. We had heard it was a calm and inviting studio that allowed children to explore their creativity and imagination. The place was bustling with kids and their parents. Kids were painting, playing in the sand, weaving, building legos, and coloring.
Lindsy Blais and Samantha opened this multi-sensory studio for children to explore in South Burlington. The studio is broken into four areas of play: open art, painting exploration, tinkering, and sensory play. They offer 6-week classes, which are structured for age appropriate activities and run from 1 hour to 1.5 hours depending on the age of the child. They also have open studio hours throughout the week for children to explore at their leisure.
Wildflower Studio is an incredible place. Kayla was able to roam freely and explore things at her own pace. She loved the writing station, which included envelopes, markers, paper, stamps, a mailbox, and even an old typewriter! She explored the wall station where she put colorful glue on paper and made a collage out of bits of wrapping paper. An old bathtub filled with sand allowed her to shovel and build. A magnetic board with pvc piping allowed her to build ramps and figure out how to get a marble down a path. And she loved the wall of old machines: a pencil sharpener, old phone, old door locks, heating thermometer, fishing reel, and old jacket zippers. This place is occupational therapy central!
Wildflower is very inviting to children of all ages and all abilities. There are so many different activities that your child will never get bored. In fact, you might have a difficult time getting your child out the door. Lindsy and Samantha are very inviting, friendly, and are very engaging to all the families that come.
We definitely will be visiting Wildflower Studio on a weekly basis. As Kayla says: “she wants to go back and play with the wall of machines and do arts and crafts”. Check this studio out; it will be worth it!
