Kayla’s Directory started our “Successful Skating” program in the fall of 2016. This program all began because Dan McFall from Full Stride was willing to partner with us to get it off the ground. A visit to the Full Stride office opened my eyes to another wonderful Vermont business.
As I entered Full Stride, I was greeted by two friendly Labradors. But what struck me more than the beautiful dogs were the old printing presses, cardstock, and printed cards that were scattered around. It was clear that this wasn’t the work of the Full Stride staff (unless they had some creative side business) but the work of Allison Lowry.
I had known that Dan’s wife, Allison Lowry, was creative because I’d seen the Full Stride tournament t-shirts (which I love) that she’d designed and the handmade leather bags she’d created, but this old press printing was incredible. The cards scattered around were simple, elegant, creative, and fun. Welcome to Loose Leaf Print Shop.
Allison’s creativity is far beyond anything I could every think of. The quality of the cards that she produces are top-notch. Between the thickness of the paper, the simplicity of the print, and the delightful package the cards come in, these cards are superior to any cards I have ever seen. But beyond the beautiful cards is an incredible woman.
I was fortunate enough to meet up with Allison when designing Kayla’s Directory “Save The Date” cards for our annual fundraiser. We also had the pleasure of playing a little hockey together during the “Learn to Play” clinic that Full Stride offers. Allison grew up in Georgia and is a die-hard Georgia football fan. But behind the intensive football fan is a fun, creative, patient, and kind woman.
Allison has a great sense of humor and is fun to be around. Whether it’s while laughing at ourselves on the ice, talking about living in the South, or chuckling about life in general, she is fun to be with. Her creativity is remarkable. This is evident from the different types of prints she makes with all arrays of colors. Her design taking “Abilities Outweigh Disabilities” and turning it into a beautiful design was incredible.
Allison is an extremely patient woman. This was clear when she dealt with my lack of artistic ability, my inability to understand all the different formats that worked better with printing, and the repeated emails I sent her asking for different versions of the invitation. Her kindness showed as she donated her time, designing and printing our cards. She spent an abundant amount of time tweaking the design, responding to emails, and designing our sponsorship letter. She is clearly dedicated to the work that she is doing.
Her witty sense of humor, creativity, and kindness make her so easy to work, let alone just hang out with. These qualities also come across in the beautiful work that she does.
