A weekly group to enhance social-emotional development through music and play.
From 3:30 until 4:30
At Oakledge Park in Burlington or Kids Rehab Gym in Williston
Cost: $5 per session
This is a wonderful weekly group for kids and parents!
Mission: To further the social-emotional development and social cognition abilities of early elementary school kids through music and play.
Objectives: The group activities will focus on identifying emotions in self and others, communicating feelings and plans, and successfully including/joining others at play.
Who: Participants should be cognitively between the ages of 5 - 8, who are very motivated to be social but need extra support and skills practice to have successful social interactions. There is space for up to 6 children per group.
(Parents of participants will also have the opportunity to connect with each other while the social group is running!)
What: The group will be led by Maggie Connors (Maple Tree Music Therapy) and supported by Sagui Lutman (Occupational Therapist at Kids' Rehab Gym).
Schedule for each group. Themes will change each week.
3:30-3:45 Musical welcome and warm-up activities
3:45-4:00 Play-based activities (to build upon/reinforce the music therapy topic)
4:00-4:30 Music therapy (rotating focus areas each week)
Where: Oak Ledge Park, Burlington. (Thunderstorm/super cold weather location is the Kids Rehab Gym.)
When:3:30-4:30 on Friday afternoons from October 2nd - November 6th
Cost for Parents: $5 per group. (Stay tuned for details on how to pay.)
