2021 Spectacular Ski Program
Given the current situation and Vermont State Guidelines, our 2021 Spectacular Ski Program looks different this year. Vermont State Guidelines encourage physical distancing and individual lessons to promote safety.
Therefore, we will only be offering slots for individual lessons this season. While Kayla's Directory is committed to ensuring that all children with special needs can actively participate in their communities, this program will not be a good fit for all of the children that we currently serve. To successfully participate in this particular skiing program, each skier must be:
- at least 8 years old;
- able to independently put on their own skis (to ensure that 6 feet of social distance can be maintained from the instructor);
- able to independently ride the rope tow and t-bar;
- and be able to ski independently.
These lessons are meant for individuals who can ski independently, but who need more instruction or supervision while skiing. These lessons are designed to help kids get outside, stay active, and have fun.
Although there is separate specific guidance that applies to ski resorts, we also want to remind parents about the guidance that has been issued in connection with organized youth sports activities. Specifically, all guardians should avoid socializing with other individuals at the lessons and should embrace an "arrive, ski, and leave" mentality. In addition, all participants should:
- have their temperature checked before coming to the lesson and stay home if they have a fever or other symptoms of coronavirus (or have been exposed to someone with coronavirus);
- maintain a distance of 6 feet from all other individuals;
- wear a face mask to the lesson (unless there is a documented medical or behavioral reason for not wearing a mask); and
- avoid carpooling to the lesson.
Once registered, participants will need to connect with Sue Carpenter to set up their time to ski. Participants can ski up to 4 separate times.
